Wanted: CV High School Host Family

If you live in the Cumberland Valley School District and am thinking about hosting an international student, this post is for YOU!

I have a family that is interested in hosting a French speaking international student for the 2013-2014 school year for just one semester.  Unfortunately, CV only allows their exchange students to come for a whole year.  To solve this problem, the interested family is willing to share the student with another family.  Family A will host the student for the first semester and then Family B will host for the second semester.

This is a wonderful way for a family to see if international hosting is a right fit without hosting for a whole school year. For more information, please contact me at jmwebb11@gmail.com or visit the Academic Year in America website.

I look forward to speaking with you!

Welcome to AYA

WELCOME!!!

For those of you that have known me since high school, you are aware that we always had Au pairs in our home acting as foreign nannies. Some of my fondest memories growing up were with these women. I bet even some of my friends can say the same! My family even attended one of our favorite Au pair's wedding in France my sophomore year of high school, and she even attended my wedding. Marie Laure was always a fan of Jason!! :)

Since we got involved with being a host family, I have always had an interest in the dynamics between the student/nanny and the host family. I also love working with and mentoring students. So much that I have taken on the job of a Local Coordinator/Supervisor for foreign exchange students with a program called Academic Year in America.

Academic Year in America (AYA) is one of the largest and most respected high school/homestay programs in the United States. Founded in 1981, AYA is well recognized by high schools across the U.S. and endorsed by thousands of American host families.
AYA is sponsored by the
American Institute For Foreign Study (AIFS) Foundation, a not-for-profit organization founded in 1967 with the assistance of the late Senator Robert F. Kennedy. Its mission is to promote worldwide understanding through cultural exchange. The Foundation awards grants to high schools for projects that encourage intercultural awareness. It also provides scholarships that enable young Americans to study and travel abroad. (http://www.academicyear.org/about.asp)

I am very much looking forward to working with families that want long lasting relationships with students from a foreign country. Being a host family can be life changing, trust me.

I am currently interviewing potential host families for the 2013-2014 school year. If you are interested or know a family that may be interested, please contact me:jmwebb11@gmail.com

*I can place and supervise students up to 120 miles from my home! If you live further, please don't let that stop you from hosting. Check out Academic Year in America and see what it's all about. *

I look forward to speaking with you!
